THE FILM

The one hour documentary ‘Yellow Fever’ follows a young Navajo woman’s search for knowledge about the history of the Four corners Uranium boom. Tina Garnanez is a young Navajo veteran and activist, who mourns the loss of her grandfather to the effects of the 1950’s uranium legacy. She is determined to find about the story of uranium development on the Navajo Nation.

OUTREACH:

We plan to make an educational version of the film for use in schools in Navajo and in English. The ‘Yellow Fever’ crew is teaching issue-based documentary film making workshops in Shiprock, NM to help give young people a voice for issues in their own neighborhood. Tina and the producers of the film will be a part of teaching seminars about current issues around uranium around the Navajo Nation. Internship opportunities are bring offered to local youth. ‘Yellow Fever’ currently is training three interns in the art of documentary film production.
